MEADOWS FUEL SAVERS PROJECT

The Meadows Partnership Trust has been successful in winning funding from the Scottish Power Energy Peoples Trust to run a fuel savers project in The Meadows over the next 18 months.

The project will give practical help and advice to ALL residents in The Meadows who are worried about heating their houses over the coming winter months; and will also help peole who are struggling to pay existing energy bills.

In the UK, fuel proverty is said to occur when, in order to heat their home to an adequate standard of warmth, a household needs to spend more than 10% of its income on total fuel use. One of the key causes of fuel poverty is high energy prices. Average domestic fuel bills have increased by 125% over the past five years! The most effective way of combating fuel poverty is to target energy efficiency measures on homes typically occupied by those on low incomes.

As part of the project, we are offering a number of things, including:

Our Energy Advisor, Ian Nicholson, is trained as an energy assessor and debt advisor and can offer free help and advice on saving money on your fuel bills, whilst making your house warmer come the next cold spell. This free advice is available to all residents living in The Meadows.
