Connor Carlton
Our World Champion Irish dancer
Connor Carlton has done it again!
CONNOR, 11, has won the World Title for his age group at the World Irish Dancing Championships for the second year running.
He first won the World Title in Belfast in 2008. This year he had to travel a little further afield to compete in the World Irish Dancing Championship. It took place in Philadelphia in the USA and Connor overcame all the extra pressure of travelling such a long distance to take the title for the second year running.
The Meadows Partnership Trust and Meadows Residents have spent the last year fund raising to make sure that Connor could defend his title. In all, we raised just under £1000. As far as we are concerned, it couldn’t have gone to a more deserving person than Connor and there just aren’t any words to describe how proud the Meadows people are.
Connor brought a letter of thanks into Linda Brodie at the Trust just before he left for the competition; and here’s what he had to say:
Dear Linda and all of the Meadows Residents and Organisations,
Thank you all so much for the donations you have raised to help me attend the 2009 Irish Dance Championships in Philadelphia. I would not have been able to go and compete without everybody’s hard work.
I am going to do my best to do the Meadows proud. It has made me realise how lucky I am to be a part of such a great community that have supported me when no one else would. Me and all my family want to say a bid thank you to everybody. There are so many of you that I cannot list you all but I am so grateful. I hope everybody living in the Meadows realises what a great community they are living in and that they can achieve what they want when there are people who will help them.
Thank you again
Connor Carlton & Family
Connor’s Mum, Amanda, had this to say after the competition:
“We really have appreciated the support from everyone in the Meadows Community. It has been amazing. The Meadows gets such bad publicity, so this is such good news and people have really pulled together to support Connor”
CONGRATULATIONS CONNOR
YOU CERTAINLY DID MAKE US PROUD!!
